Affiliate disclosure
This page exists so you know how the site is paid for before you read a recommendation, not after.
Advertising
DeckFormula displays third-party advertising. Ads are served programmatically and are labelled. We do not sell ad placements directly, and we do not accept payment to place a specific product in a specific position.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links to retailers may be affiliate links, which means the site may earn a commission if you buy through them. Where affiliate links are used, they are marked with rel="sponsored".
Two commitments about this:
- No affiliate link changes a number. Calculators are arithmetic. A commission cannot alter a formula, and we would not accept one that tried to.
- No product is recommended because of a commission. Where we describe a material or a category, the reasoning is stated — cost, span requirement, maintenance interval, lifespan.
What we do not do
- We do not publish sponsored articles presented as editorial.
- We do not rank products for payment.
- We do not accept payment to alter a calculated result or a code citation.
- We do not sell user data. The calculators run in your browser and nothing you type is transmitted.
How to tell which links are commercial
Every affiliate link carries rel="sponsored nofollow" in the markup, and outbound retailer links are labelled in the text where they appear. Internal links never carry a commercial relationship — a link to another calculator on this site is not an ad, and there is nothing to buy at the other end.
If you find a link that goes to a retailer without a label, that is a mistake. Tell us and it gets fixed, because an unlabelled commercial link is the one thing this page exists to prevent.
Why the disclosure is on every page
US rules on endorsements and testimonials require that a material connection be disclosed clearly and before the reader acts on it — not buried in a footer page nobody opens. That is why the footer of every page links here, and why the funding paragraph appears on the homepage rather than only in the small print.
The practical test we apply: if a reader looked at a page and never opened this one, would they still know the site could earn money from a link? If the answer is no, the page is not labelled clearly enough.
Editorial independence
Formula changes and code citations are governed by the methodology, not by commercial relationships. If a correction affects a page that carries affiliate links, the correction is made and the page is re-dated — the links are not a factor in the decision.
Contact
If you believe a recommendation is commercially motivated rather than reasoned, tell us. That is a serious complaint and we treat it as one.
Questions people actually ask
Does DeckFormula earn money from affiliate links?
Possibly, on some outbound retailer links, which are marked with rel="sponsored". Advertising is the primary funding. No advertiser or affiliate partner has input into a calculator formula or a code citation.
Do affiliate commissions affect which products you recommend?
No. Where the site describes a material or category, the reasoning is stated in terms of cost, span requirement, maintenance and lifespan — all of which are checkable independently of any commission.
